Bible thoughts by pastor Chris onayinka
Thoughts(1)
Jesus spoke about this world.
In very clear terms he describes what the world is
and how distinct the believer is from the world. Let us
examine His words about this world.
John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the
world hath hated them, because they are not of the
world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of
the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from
the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of
the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
John16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that
in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall
have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have
overcome the world.
The Apostles also spoke in this light.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory,
save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom
the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things
that are in the world. If any man love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
James 4:4 .. know ye not that the friendship of the
world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be
a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
We are not just being advised here. We are being
admonished.
We had thought that worldliness had to do with
luxury and exquisite things. Maybe fine clothes and
flashy hairdo! We were wrong.
Worldliness is a thought pattern.
A system of conduct communicated to the believer who
doesn't belong to the system of this world.
The Earth is the Lord’s and its fullness-Psalms 24:1, 1
Corinthians 10:24. This is not the world referred to
here.
Rather a system and pattern of influence contrary to
God’s word.
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath
blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of
God, should shine unto them.
John12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall
the prince of this world be cast out.
Satan is the ruler and god of this world.
The believer lives in this world, but must NEVER be
influenced by it.
He is not of this world. He is in Christ. Christ is not of
This world.
Christ is the Light of the world because the world is
darkness. Without Christ all things are dark and in
confusion.
The ONLY way out for the believer is to live in and by
His sanctification.
John17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am
not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
The believer must know he is sanctified, sacred to God
and different from the World.
This sanctification is ONLY in the Word.
We must not act like men without identity. We must
act on the Word- Our sanctification.
If we do not, we become influenced by the world and
become worldly and are no different in our lifestyles
from those whose hearts are ruled by Satan.
Blessed? The believer is not of this world and is
sanctified in the Word from the world! We win!
